TONICA — A house fire the afternoon of May 17 in rural Tonica started near the power connection to the house, firefighters determined.
The Tonica Volunteer Fire Department was called to a house fire at 2005 East Eighth Road at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
On arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from the residence. Firefighters determined the fire started near the power connection. The fire was within a wall and extended to the attic area. The roof and walls were ventilated. There was some fire, smoke and water damage inside the house.
There were no injuries.
ComEd was contacted to disconnect the power to the house.
Tonica firefighters cleared the scene within about an hour and 30 minutes.
Tonica responded with two pumpers, a tender, rescue truck and ambulance. Oglesby firefighters responded with a pumper. Lostant Fire Department provided a pumper to cover the Tonica Fire Station during the incident.
LaSalle County Sheriff’s deputies provided traffic control.
