PERU — The first baby of 2020 to be born at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru arrived Friday, Jan. 3, when Eva Gabriela Escatel of Spring Valley gave birth to a boy at 3:16 p.m.
Damian Rodriquez entered the world weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces. He was 19 inches in length at birth.
The child is the second for Escatel and her partner, Alvaro Rodriquez.
Certified nurse midwife Barb Tieman from the Women’s Health Care Center at IVCH delivered the baby.
The last baby of 2019 to be born at IVCH was a girl born Dec. 31 to Jennifer Cain and Nickolas Estelle of Princeton.
There were 376 births at IVCH in 2019.
