Gateway Services to host Gateway 5K Superhero Showdown

Duck drop also planned

PRINCETON — It’s time again for heroes and villains to descend on the Bureau County Fairgrounds, 811 W. Peru St., Princeton, for the sixth annual 5K Superhero Showdown. The date for this year’s 3.1-mile run/walk has been set for Saturday, June 22, at 8 a.m. Check-in and final registration is scheduled for 7 to 7:30 a.m., and the cost is $20 per participant.

The route is the same as previous years, and prizes will be given in various age categories. A prize will also be given for the best superhero and villain costumes. Costumes are optional.

Folllowing the race and awards presentation will be the duck drop. Rubber ducks, smartly attired in hero or villain costumes, are available for purchase as follows: a single duck is $5, a “quack pack” is six ducks for $25 and a “flock” is 30 ducks for $100. 5K participants will automatically receive a duck. The numbered ducks will descend from the skies, and if your number lands on a prize target, you win. Top prizes are $500, $250 and $100. Other prizes are also available as they are generously donated by area businesses and friends of Gateway.

To complete a 5K registration or to purchase a duck, visit www.gateway5K.com or find the link on their Facebook page. You may also stop in the main office at 406 S. Gosse Blvd., Princeton, to complete your purchase, or call 815-875-4548 to register via phone.
