OTTAWA — LaSalle County traffic deaths dropped in 2018.
There were nine crashes last year, in which nine people died in LaSalle County. In 2017 there were 18 deaths. In three of 2018’s deaths, the victims had alcohol and/or drugs in their systems, according to the county coroner’s office.
In 2018, there were two other LaSalle County crash victims, who were taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, where they died; their deaths are listed with Peoria County’s figures.
Since 2000 in LaSalle County, the highest number of deaths was 34 in 2007, with 11 the lowest in 2012.
Livingston County had eight traffic deaths in 2018 and 10 in 2017.
