The first baby of 2019 to be born at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru arrived Wednesday, Jan. 2, when Cindy Hernandez of LaSalle gave birth to a boy at 9:21 p.m. Jesus Lopez Jr. entered the world weighing 8 pounds, 7 ounces and measuring 19 1/2 inches in length. The child is the first for Hernandez and her partner, Jesus Lopez. Dr. Glenn Helwig delivered the baby. The last baby of 2018 to be born at IVCH was a girl born Dec. 31 to Lyneatte Elmore of LaSalle. There were 361 births at IVCH in 2018.
