Bob Warnell, of the Lostant Hatchery, is pictured with the latest volume of the historic Lostant Memory Book, which covers 1986 to now. Every year at this time, Lostant’s villagers and visitors are encouraged to sign their names in the book and include themselves in this tradition dating back to 1895. Other information included on its pages are births, deaths (both local and famous), marriages, graduations, new businesses, weather, and other significant events. The first book was started by hardware store owners Cyrus W. Curtis and Thomas Williamson. That volume is at the LaSalle County Historical Society and is available to view on microfiche. In 2017, the book chronicled 42 signatures, five births and 13 deaths.
