Women Inspired Network celebrates giving with special performance

LASALLE — The Women Inspired Network invites the community to join in the second annual Celebration of Giving on Sunday, Nov. 18, at Celebrations 150 in LaSalle.

The Network, (WIN), an initiative of the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation, will award $12,000 in grant funding to one or more local charities. The funds for the awards are contributed by members and friends of WIN throughout the year and are then awarded through a competitive grant process.

Applications for grant funding in 2018 were submitted by 15 local non-profit organizations to support various programs and services that educate, empower and enhance the lives of women and children throughout LaSalle, Bureau and Putnam counties. Presentations were made by the five finalist agencies, and recipients for funding will be honored at the Celebration of Giving.

Food stations/cash bar, and a performance of “Love, Loss and What I Wore” will surround the grant award celebration. The play, presented by WCMY, directed by Maggie Frost, and starring outstanding local actresses Kathy Missel, Lou Ann Gayan, Zoe Peshel, Kathy Hepner and Samantha Farb is based on stories by famous author Nora Ephron and her daughter, Delia. Both men and women will enjoy the entertaining and thought-provoking production about how our clothes connect us to the most emotional times in our lives.

Cocktails from a cash bar begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by buffet stations, the play and the WIN grant award presentation. The cost is $35 per person and RSVP by Tuesday, Nov. 13, is required. Visit http://srccf.org/blog/women-inspired-network/ to purchase registration, or a check, payable to the SRCCF, can be sent to the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation (SRCCF) at 718 Columbus St., Ottawa, IL 61350.

Proceeds from the event will be used to build the WIN Endowment to support women and children throughout Starved Rock Country and to fund future grant awards.
