At 5:08 p.m. on Sept. 25, the Tonica Volunteer Fire Department responded to a semi-truck rollover on Interstate 39, south of the Route 18 overpass. Emergency personnel found a box trailer semi on its side and off of the northbound road. The driver initially couldn’t get out of the cab, but was able to get out on his own as emergency personnel arrived. The box trailer was empty. Tonica EMTs examined, treated and assessed the driver who signed a waiver to not transport him to the hospital. The state police investigated the accident. Tonica provided traffic control while the wrecker service removed the semi truck, and they cleared the scene in about 90 minutes.
