TONICA — A fire at a Tonica residence early Saturday, June 2, was contained to a dining room area.
At 6:28 a.m., Tonica firefighters were called to the structure fire at 515 S. First St. Oglesby firefighters also brought a pumper, according to a press release.
Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from a two-story residence. A search determined no one was home at the time of the fire. The fire was quickly suppressed, with overhaul and ventilation also performed.
Tonica responded with two pumpers, a pumper tanker, rescue truck and ambulance. LaSalle County deputies assisted with traffic control while Route 251 was partially closed.
Damage was contained to a dining room area, with smoke throughout the residence. The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause.
No further information was released.
