High-water headache

Each time heavy rains, melting snow or both increase the flow of Bailey Creek, land along the borders of both Fairview and Brookside cemeteries is lost, and the damage moves closer to the area's historical graves. The Tonica Cemetery Association has sought assistance from the Army Corps of Engineers and the North Central Illinois Council of Governments to help minimize erosion damage. See story on Page 2.
