TONICA — Tonica Volunteer Fire Department Chief Alan Stremlau has issued an open burning ban as of Sept. 29.
Because of the current dry weather conditions, there’s a ban on all open burning throughout the response area of the Tonica Fire Department. This includes all trash, recreational fires, bonfires, and yard waste fires. No one is to engage in open burning unless they’re specifically permitted to do so by the fire chief.
This burn ban is in effect until the conditions for open controlled burning are no longer a danger to life or nearby property. Those living or operating in and around agricultural fields and wooded areas are reminded to be extra cautious.
