SV Police investigate shooting

SPRING VALLEY — The Spring Valley man who was treated for a gunshot wound at St. Margaret’s Hospital over the weekend has remained uncooperative with police and refuses to reveal any information related to the shooting.

As previously reported, Spring Valley Police were called to St. Margaret’s Hospital at 1 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12. The 34-year-old man had arrived at the hospital and sought treatment for a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He was flown to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria for further treatment. Spring Valley Police Chief Kevin Sangston confirmed he was released Monday, Aug. 14.
The man refused to reveal any details about the shooting including the location of the incident, identity of the offender or any of the circumstances about the incident.

Sangston said the man was brought to the hospital by relatives. They were all interviewed by police, however, they claimed they didn’t know what happened.

Sangston said police have no further information related to the case but continue to believe this was not a random act. He said police have no idea why the man refuses to release any details related to the shooting.

Police are still investigating the case. Anyone with information can call the police department at 815-663-2351.
