National publication recognizes IVCH's McDonnell

PERU — Nancy McDonnell, Illinois Valley Community Hospital’s chief information officer, has been included on the 2017 list of “100 Community Hospital CIOs to Know” released July 27 by Becker’s Hospital Review.

Becker's is a monthly publication offering up-to-date business and legal news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems. The Becker's staff accepted nominations for the list and developed the final list based on editorial research.

A news release from the publication says the CIOs on the list all lead the health IT teams at community hospitals and health systems. It says the individuals highlighted have implemented electronic health record systems, lead cybersecurity initiatives and oversee telehealth/telemedicine programs.

McDonnell came to IVCH in 2008 after working at Old Second National Bank in Aurora, where she was vice president of information services and responsible for technology security.

As CIO at IVCH, she is part of the hospital’s executive leadership team and heads the information systems department. She holds several industry certifications, including the CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) credential.

McDonnell holds an MBA degree from Western Governors University, where she also received a bachelor’s degree in network management.
