IVCH Auxiliary awards scholarships

PERU — Two Illinois Valley Community Hospital nurses who are studying for their Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing are the recipients of $1,000 scholarships from the IVCH Auxiliary.

Tara Murillo of LaSalle, a transitional care nurse, received the Ruth Daniels Memorial Nursing Scholarship while Janine Sobin of Spring Valley, a clinical documentation specialist, was awarded the IVCH Auxiliary Scholarship. Both nurses are enrolled in BSN classes at Purdue University Calumet. Both earned their associate degrees in nursing at Illinois Valley Community College.

Eligibility for both scholarships requires applicants to be either an IVCH employee or the daughter or son of an IVCH employee. To be eligible for the Ruth Daniels award, applicants must have completed the first year of a college nursing program. Applicants for the Auxiliary Scholarship must be second-year college students enrolled in any medically-related field of study.
