LADD — Dr. Jason Lafferty, who has operated Ladd Family Chiropractic for 11 years, started offering services at Sapp Brothers in Peru, on Jan. 6.

"This opportunity has been on my mind for a number of years," he said. "I called local truck stops, and Kevin (Cassidy manager at Sapp Brothers) jumped on it."

Lafferty knew of the great need for this type of service for travelers.

"I have family members who are truck drivers, and I know about the wear and tear this profession does to them," he said.

Lafferty will have a room next to the CB Repair Shop at the truck stop where he will have office hours from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Lafferty will offer chiropractic care such as adjustments and spinal exams, and X-rays by appointment only since he will have to do this at his Ladd office. He will also be seeking certification to perform DOT physicals. He wants to not only offer chiropractic services to truckers, but also to other travelers on Interstate 80 and even local folks, if they so desire.

Lafferty said Sapp Brothers offers chiropractic care at two other trucks stops the company operates in Denver, Colo., and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Lafferty will also send letters to local trucking companies telling them about his office hours at the truck stop to let their drivers know about this new service.

Lafferty said people wanting to call for an appointment after Jan. 6 can call 815-627-6450. He will also accept walk-ins.
